“Inside Innovation,” a new series of free, public presentations, will feature the latest innovation technologies by UC San Diego, with opportunities for participants to get an inside look at what’s happening in our labs, explore commercialization opportunities, and inquire about licensing.

Todd Coleman, associate professor of bioengineering, the inaugural speaker on September 20, is noted for using tools from information theory, neuroscience, machine learning and bioelectronics to understand – and control – interacting systems with biological and computer parts. His research in developing multi-functional, flexible bio-electronics are enabling wireless health applications – and making news in the process.

Sponsored by the Office of Research Affairs and the Office of Innovation and Commercialization, the inaugural presentation will be held 4-6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 20, in the Roth Auditorium at the Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine.

Other presentations in the series will be held 4-6 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month at the same venue.

Upcoming presenters on the schedule include Dr. Pradipta Ghosh, Dr. Andrew Kahn, Associate Professor Catriona Jamieson, and Associate Professor Shirley Meng, with topics ranging from nanoengineering to human cellular processes.

“The new series is a great opportunity for the campus and community to learn about the creative and problem-solving innovations now being developed at UC San Diego,” said Paul Roben, associate vice chancellor for innovation and commercialization. “Each presentation will highlight the imagination, creativity, and entrepreneurial spirit driving much of our research.”
