Conference-Best 51 Tritons Garner Big West All-Academic Team Recognition

To be eligible, student-athletes must carry a minimum grade point average of 3.00, be at least a sophomore academically with one full year at the institution, and have competed in 50 percent of the team's contests, with the exception of cross country student-athletes. In the sport of cross country, a student-athlete must have competed in either 50 percent of the institution's events or participated in the Conference Championship.

A total of 399 men and women who compete in the fall sports of men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball across The Big West. By sport, women's soccer had the most honorees with 136 student-athletes named to the team. Men's soccer had 80, followed by women's volleyball with 76. Women's cross country (73) and men's cross country (34) rounded out the rest of the sports.

Following UC San Diego in total all-academic picks was UC Riverside with 47. Cal Poly and UC Irvine each had 44 student-athletes earn the conference's academic accolade. UC Davis (37), UC Santa Barbara (35), Cal State Fullerton (34), CSUN (34), Hawai'i (26), CSU Bakersfield (24) and Long Beach State (23) rounded out the rest of the Academic All-Conference Team.

The Tritons led all Big West schools in the sports of men's cross country (9), women's cross country (12), and men's soccer (11).

The 2021 season was the first as a Big West member for UC San Diego in men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, and women's volleyball.
