In recognition of a generous gift from Deepak and Varsha Israni, UC San Diego is proud to establish the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts within the Division of Arts and Humanities, the university’s hub for creative and academic advancement in culture, music, theater, film and the arts.

The UC San Diego Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts announced the recipients of their inaugural production and research fellowships, awarding a total of $20,000 to 10 filmmakers from the entire UC San Diego community: faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, staff and alumni.

Bringing front-row, free access to the performing arts, UCTV has launched a new Arts Channel. The self-funded UCTV Arts aims to create 12 to 18 original programs at UC San Diego, spotlighting artists and musicians who otherwise may not have a platform to share their work and stories.

UC San Diego and Point Loma Nazarene University will co-host the 23rd annual Kyoto Prize Symposium on March 13 and 14. The 2023 Kyoto Prize Laureates are Elliott H. Lieb for Basic Sciences, Ryuzo Yanagimachi for Advanced Technology and Nalini Malani for Arts and Philosophy.
