UC San Diego Physician, Alumni Partner to Provide Prosthetic Limbs for Ukrainian Amputees

University and LIMBER Prosthetics aim to provide 100 3D-printed prostheses throughout the world
In war-torn Ukraine, amputees are learning to walk again thanks to the collaborative efforts of a UC San Diego physician and two alumni entrepreneurs. Dr. Manoj Monga, chair of the Department of Urology, scanned amputees’ residual limbs using a smartphone app, and custom prostheses were 3D printed by LIMBER Prosthetics and Orthotics, a startup that originated at UC San Diego.
