New Council Members Expand Rady's Industry Connections

The Dean’s Advisory Council propels the work of the Rady School of Management by providing mission-based leadership, ambassadorship, and philanthropic support in partnership with Dean Lisa Ordóñez. The Dean’s Advisory Council is composed of leaders in business, finance, accountancy, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, and the nonprofit sector, whose achievements help attract other qualified members and supporters for the Rady School of Management.
The Rady School of Management at UC San Diego welcomes six new members to its Advisory Council: Krithi Rao Bindal, Ken Kroner, Justin Murphy, Karlo Teran, Brandi Roberts and Dan Salzman. They’ll join the council in advancing Rady’s mission and strengthening its ties to the San Diego business community. Please read below to learn more about our newest members.
Krithi Rao Bindal
Krithi Rao Bindal, MS, PhD, MBA, is president and founder of Aroga Biosciences, a pharmaceutical firm specializing in regulatory writing and submission services from drug discovery to launch. With 20 years in biopharma regulatory development spanning oncology to inflammatory disease, she's built a career on translating complex science into clear communication.
Bindal’s recognition includes San Diego Magazine's Face of Biotechnology Development award and San Diego Business Journal's Top Leader of Influence in Life Sciences and Top 40 Business Leaders Under 40 honors. Under her leadership, Aroga Biosciences was named a Top 10 CRO by PharmaTech Outlook (2022), Top Regulatory Submission Firm by Life Sciences Review (2023-25) and Best Place to Work by San Diego Business Journal (2025).
Currently, Bindal serves as the chair of Young Women in Bio San Diego and the American Medical Writers Association's AI Leadership Committee, Biocom CA's Regulatory Affairs Committee and on the advisory board of CureMatch. She holds an MS in immunology from the University of North Texas Health Science Center, a PhD from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and an MBA from UC San Diego's Rady School of Management.
Kenneth F. Kroner
Kenneth F. Kroner served on BlackRock's Global Executive Committee, overseeing hundreds of billions in active investment portfolios. Previously, he was an economics and finance professor at the University of Arizona.
In 2020, Ken founded the Kroner Center at UC San Diego — now the Kroner Koenigsberger Center — connecting academic research to real-world investment challenges facing pension funds, foundations and sovereign wealth funds worldwide. He served as the global chair of UC San Diego's recent capital campaign, which raised more than $3 billion in philanthropic gifts, and currently co-chairs International Justice Mission's $750 million campaign to end human trafficking. His family’s philanthropic work focuses on higher education and social justice/forced labor causes.
Kroner holds a BS in Mathematics and Economics from the University of Alberta and a PhD in Economics from UC San Diego.
Justin Murphy
Justin Murphy, MBA, is a senior partner at Bain & Company, one of the world’s premier strategy consulting firms. At Bain, he serves as the Global Head of Bain’s Technology Pricing Practice, Global Head of Bain’s TMT Commercial Excellence Interlock, and founder and leader of Bain’s Celerity service line, a dedicated team focused on pricing consulting.
Murphy advises technology companies on pricing strategy, commercial excellence and large-scale transformation. His work can be seen among the sector's largest acquisitions and integrations. Today, his current focus centers on helping non-native AI companies implement AI effectively across products, operations and go-to-market strategy.
As a frequent industry keynote speaker on pricing and innovation, Murphy also guest lectures on pricing for MBA students. He graduated magna cum laude from Bates College and earned his MBA with honors from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
Karlo Teran
Karlo Teran is a 20-plus-year entrepreneur and investor across real estate and private equity. Currently, he serves as the CEO of a Latin American family office and of Monro Capital, a San Diego-based real estate investment firm.
His career spans Bain & Company (growth strategy for aerospace, airlines and insurance clients, including Jetmex's business plan, eventually Volaris), The KOR Group in Los Angeles, CalPERS and a CFO role at Investment Placement Group. As managing director at Discovery Americas Private Equity Mexico, he closed the firm's first financial services investment in Arrenda+ and led acquisitions including Medica TEC 100, Residencias Villazul and AMCO Education. He also co-founded Juanfutbol.com, Tiki Taka digital agency and Perdura Partners.
Teran serves on the boards of Tiki Taka, Grupo Centura Alimentos, Finbaja, Cemenquin and Monro Capital, and on Advent Mexico's advisory board. He co-founded and hosts Mi Programa Financiero, a podcast on personal finance. He also belongs to México en Movimiento and YPO San Diego Coastal. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from Tecnológico de Monterrey and an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management.
Brandi Roberts
Brandi Roberts is chief financial officer at Definium Therapeutics, a late-stage clinical biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for psychiatric and neurological disorders. She brings more than 25 years of financial leadership into the life sciences industry.
As CFO of Longboard Pharmaceuticals, Roberts helped lead the company through its IPO, multiple financings and its $2.6 billion acquisition by Lundbeck in 2024. Her earlier CFO roles at Lineage Cell Therapeutics, REVA Medical and Mast Therapeutics — plus senior finance positions at Alphatec Spine, Artes Medical, Stratagene and Pfizer — reflect a career built on scaling operations and steering investor relations.
Roberts holds an MBA from the University of San Diego and a BS in Accounting and Finance from the University of Arizona. In addition, she is a certified public accountant (CPA) in California. She serves on the boards of Life Science Cares San Diego, the Association of Bioscience Financial Officers (National and Southwest chapters) and Day for Change.
Dan Salzman
Dan Salzman is chief marketing officer at Vizient, the nation's largest member-owned health care performance improvement company, where he leads enterprise go-to-market and communications strategy — sharpening the brand, elevating thought leadership and turning insight into measurable growth.
With more than 25 years building B2B and B2C marketing organizations for Fortune 100 companies, Salzman previously served as senior vice president and business unit CMO for HP's $4.5 billion Workforce Solutions business, transforming it from product-centric to services-led and solutions-led growth engine. Earlier at HP, he built and led a 300-person global marketing services team spanning media, data science and market intelligence. Before HP, he spent more than a decade at Johnson & Johnson as the global vice president of strategic insights, integrating consumer insights and analytics across the enterprise.
Throughout his career, he has been recognized for grounding strategy in deep customer insight, driving cross-functional alignment, and holding marketing accountable for growth outcomes.
Salzman holds a PhD in Social and Personality Psychology from Lehigh University and a BS in Experimental Psychology from Liberty University
